Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sr. Arockia Mary

IN YOUR PRESENCE MY HEART IS GLAD AND MY SOUL FULL OF JOY.

(Ps16:9)

Introduction

I, Sister Arokia Mary, was born on July 22, 1974, in a village called Varadarajanpet, Ariyalore District, in Tamil Nadu State, India. My father was a farmer and mother was a housewife.  We are three children, I have a brother and a sister, and both are married. My father being very devoted and God fearing helped us to grow in faith.  He cultivated in us the devotion to Our Mother Mary and Saint Antony. From my childhood onwards I had a great desire to become a Religious and serve God by serving His people. My father was a great source of inspiration for my life and vocation.

After Higher Secondary Examination I was at home, wanting to join the Religious Congregation. At that time, a priest from Raipur Diocese came for home holidays and happened to visit my family. I expressed my desire to join a religious congregation and he directed me to our Congregation. Not knowing what is ahead of me, I responded to God’s call and I joined our Congregation May 26, 1993.

Life in Congregation

I began my religious life as a candidate on September 8, 1993. Those four years of formation are unforgettable, with many memories filled with learning a lot, sharing, and reading, praying, doing many things and enjoying the company of all our sisters in the community.  On December 9, 1997, I took my temporary vows and on May 13, 2006, final vows. I experience God’s blessings and His faithfulness in all the ups and downs of my life.

The Words that accompany me are – “My grace is enough for you”.

Study and Apostolate

I have finished my General Nursing studies and a course for Nurse Anesthesia Technician. At present, I serve in Pithora, in the health center. I always feel joy by participating in the healing ministry of Jesus.

Conclusion

“God has chosen you, be faithful to Him”-My father said to me as I left home. Yes, I believe in God’s call and live my life in love and service.
