My <\/em>God and my All!<\/p>\n(<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em>St. Francis)<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Sister M. Baldegund came from a deeply religious German farming family in Saerbeck-Westladbergen. Three of her aunts were religious, two of whom belonged to our Congregation and one of whom belonged to the Sch\u00f6nstadt Sisters. She said that she was deeply impressed by her aunts’ way of life. She always looked forward to visiting days at the convent and to the occasions when her aunts came home to visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the age of 23, Paula Freude entered our Congregation herself and became a nurse. She managed the private wards in both Recklinghausen-S\u00fcd and Kirchhellen. From 1980 to 1997, she cared for her fellow Sisters in the former nurses’ ward, Ward 40. She is remembered by many of her colleagues as a calm, very considerate and highly skilled nurse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1997 to 2012, she cared for the dying at the Elisabeth Hospice in Datteln. Afterward, she returned to the motherhouse due to her age and continued to serve willingly. She offered small acts of service to her fellow Sisters and, at first, still took on night shifts caring for the dying Sisters. In February of this year, she herself became a resident of St. Heriburg House and was able to experience the care and attention of the staff and the Sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days before her death, she suffered a heart attack from which she was unable to recover. On her deathbed, Sister M. Baldegund expressly gave thanks for all the good she had received in the Congregation, for being able to help many sick people, and also for having been allowed to live in the convent for 69 years. St. Francis shaped her life, and his words, \u201cMy God and my All,\u201d were her life\u2019s motto. United with God, she set out on her final journey to be with Him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We say a grateful farewell to Sister M. Baldegund. We honor her memory through prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist, and we remain united with her in sisterly love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, August 21, 2026, we will bid farewell to Sister M. Baldegund. The Resurrection Mass will be held at 10 a.m. in the Motherhouse Church, after which we will accompany her to her final resting place in the Sisters\u2019 Cemetery. Afterward, we can share our memories of her over coffee at the Motherhouse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
