Born: February 3, 1933
Entrance: March 4, 1967
Professed: October 28, 1969
Died: April 21, 2026
On April 21, 2026, at the age of 93, the Lord called to Himself our dear Sister M. Casildis, née Marta Kokot, Hospital Sister of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, with songs of praise into His courts!
(Psalm 100:4)
Give thanks to him, praise his name.
Sister M. Casildis was born on February 3, 1933, in Chróścice near Opole. She entered our Congregation on March 4, 1967. She made her First Profession on October 28, 1969.
Sister M. Casildis began her service in our Congregation already during her postulancy at the children’s home in Rückers (Glatz County). After her first profession, she worked primarily as a cook, and at the same time attended culinary school in Wrocław, where she earned a Masters Diploma in 1975. From then on, cooking became her passion and a means of bringing love to those to whom she was sent. The convent in Glatz-Scheibe was her final assignment. Here she cooked and prepared meals for the Sisters as long as her health permitted.
From these years of her faithful service to God, we remember Sister M. Casildis as a caring person who was devoted to those she served. She loved to joke and tell various stories from her life, which often brightened our Sisters’ gatherings. She also often spoke of her family, with whom she maintained close contact and who supported her with their love, their presence, and their prayers.
Sister M. Casildis was a great devotee of St. Anthony and St. Martha, her patron saint, whose spirit of service she embodied as a cook. In this way, she combined the attitudes of the Gospel figures Martha and Mary in her life by offering her work and her prayers to God.
In 2024, she moved to the convent of the Sisters in Groß Döbern, where the Sisters lovingly cared for her. She never parted with her rosary, for as she herself said, “it is my weapon.”
After the trials of earthly life, she was called by name and went to meet the Lord. We trust that she rejoices in His presence.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church in Dobrzeń Wielki. The Rosary will be prayed at 10.30 a.m.
