Sister M. Isfrieda

Professed: October 28, 1953
Died: February 20, 2026

After a long and fulfilling life, the good and merciful God called our fellow sister to Himself, Sister M. Isfrieda, née Frieda Keuter, Hospital Sister of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.

Now, Lord, you have kept your promise; and you may let your servant go in peace. With my own eyes I have seen your  salvation.”

(Lk. 2, 29-30)

The Gospel of John reports: “When morning came, Jesus stood on the shore.” There he also welcomed our fellow Sister from St. Francis House, Nordwalde and took her with Him to heaven. Since 2014, she had been living as a senior citizen there. She quietly went her way, even though breathing became increasingly difficult and the path became more arduous. Until a week ago, she was still able to go to the chapel and participate in meals in the refectory.

Sister M. Isfrieda joined our Congregation from Lingen. She became a nurse and worked in nursing in Friesoythe, Bottrop, and Hückeswagen. After that, she was responsible at the reception at Gelsenkirchen-Horst, in Damme and Vreden, where she welcomed guests and visitors. In Wilhelmshaven, she looked after the library and took over the ministry until the convent was dissolved.

We knew Sister M. Isfrieda as a modest, lovable, and unassuming fellow Sister who faithfully followed her path as a great woman of prayer. Until the end, she had a good relationship with her family, who were always present in her thoughts.

We bid farewell to Sister M. Isfrieda with gratitude. We remain united with her in sisterly love through prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist.

We will celebrate the Resurrection Mass for Sister M. Isfrieda on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis House in Nordwalde, followed by her burial at the Sisters’ cemetery, where she will find her final resting place.
